MISSION STATEMENT
The MISSION of the PROCTOR MUSEUM OF NATURAL SCIENCE (PMNS herein), as set out in our charter, is as follows:
"This corporation
is organized exclusively for scientific,
educational and charitable purposes within
the meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the Internal
Revenue Code, and insofar as the following
are not inconsistent with such section of
the IRS Code, to:
1. Organize and
finance the collecting and transporting of
objects, articles, elements and items of
the natural history of the Earth, Man, the
Solar System and the Universe;
2. Organize and
finance the display, demonstration and exhibition
of objects, articles, elements and items
of the natural history of the Earth, Man,
the Solar System and the Universe;
3. Organize, finance
and provide for the study of the natural
history of the Earth, Man, the Solar System
and the Universe;
4. Organize, finance
and provide for the facilities for the study,
display, demonstration and exhibition of
objects, articles, elements and items of
the natural history of the Earth, Man, the
Solar System and the Universe;
5. Acquisition of:
objects; articles; elements; items; and recorded
information (including, but not limited to
recording by the following means: written,
photographic, artistic rendition, video-tape,
audio-tape, computer creation, and all other
means of recording whatsoever) on of the
natural history of the Earth, Man, the Solar
System and the Universe;
6. Acquisition of
scientific and educational material for the
purpose of dissemination of such knowledge
to the public to carry out the purposes for
which this corporation is founded and to
provide funds for such purposes, provided
such activities are not inconsistent with
aforementioned section of the IRS Code;
7. Organize, finance
and provide for the education of persons
in the natural history of the Earth, Man,
the Solar System and the Universe;
8. Join with other
persons, organizations or other entities,
including governmental and private, in endeavors
toward any of the other purposes herein set
forth;
9. The collection,
study and display of various forms of flora
and fauna of the world and universe;
10. Organization,
financing, housing, staffing and maintenance
of a library of original scientific works,
scientific archives, collection of stored
flora, reference material and all other aspects
and services of a library; and
11. Any and all other
lawful purposes and activities, which are
exclusively for scientific, educational and
charitable purposes within the meaning of
section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue
Code, including where not in conflict with
said section, the acquisition and sale of
real and personal property, not in conflict
with the other purposes herein set forth
or in violation of law, which are in support
of and/or ancillary to those purposes herein
set forth, in order to assist, allow or effectuate
the other purposes herein set out, involving
the natural history of the Earth, Man, the
Solar System and the Universe."
