This fetal mammoth tusk was found accidentally
as it is so small (about 1" in length)
that is was found along with some other Pleistocene
teeth all within about a four or five foot
radius of the excavation hole which HMNS
Curator T. W. Proctor, J.D. had dug at the
Leisey Shell Pit in March, 1999. It was identified
by Frank Garcia. Frank for Terry.
This came from an unborn baby mammoth of
the Order of Proboscidea and Genus Mammuthus, known as an Imperial Mammoth.
